Girl Deletes Boyfriend’s WOW Characters, Boyfriend Goes Berserk

I’m not sure if this is staged or not, but it seems that this guy doesn’t really appreciate having all his beloved WOW characters suddenly disappear on him. I just hope that his girlfriend won’t get the same treatment as his monitor, else he’ll have the police knock on his front door in no time.

    I agree. He deserved it.

But now he will have a chance to redeem himself and become an Horde =D

  3. Gotta call fake on this one.

Unless he has some sort of mental problem, his reaction was inconsistent with a normal WoW player. Most players have experienced the occasional bizarre technical problem, so we'd restart the game and maybe even the computer, then log on and talk to our friends to see if anyone else has a similar problem. Then check the forums, and/or call tech support.

Nobody (stable) just automatically destroys their computer over what could be a technical glitch.

  5. He has a bad temper, but she's just pure evil.

If you don't like your significant other doing something, you ask them to stop, you don't destroy it. Guess the community response would have been different if she instead destroyed a car or something else he has put hours into getting just right.

    • Quite right, Calavera. People who are agreeing with the girlfriend and mocking the boyfriend in this scenario are only doing it because it's WoW. Had it been something else, the girlfriend would have seemed like a crazy control freak who didn't respect her boyfriend's hobbies.

    • Of course it is like that. The amount of time spent doesn't really calculate into what other people think about it. For instance, if he was making a sculpture made out of snot, spending years in perfecting it and countless of resources to make more mucus… it doesn't really compare to if he had spent that time making a car, a sculpture or a wow-account. Unless you're a snot-enthusiast. While I can appreciate hard work, what it is spent doing also plays in. It's all in the eye of the beholder.

That said, yes, I've spent countless hours doing stuff which I'd rage about if it got ruined by someone… even though on the whole it isn't important, really.

  7. What a b***h. You see, if MY significant other wouldn't pay attention to me, I'd ask them to let me do whatever it was with them–even if I didn't think I would like it. But honestly, I kind of have to fault the boyfriend for this too, after all, he has a girlfriend but he chooses to play WoW all day instead.

  9. Everything in moderation, folks…even WoW. If this is real, his reaction is way over the top. And her reaction in deleting his characters is, too. All he has to do is put in a ticket to get his characters back. The account isn't deleted, just some of the data. It'll take work, patience and time, but it's not the end of the world. Nothing to get so upset about to ruin your monitor/comp over!

  11. As the gf of a WoW addict, I can say this is exactly the reaction my bf would have if he came home to discover all his crap was deleted. I would not say it's over the top for WoW addicts at all – it's the same reaction a crackhead would have to their significant other flushing all their drugs down the toilet.

WoW addiction is a REAL addiction – it's not just a "hobby". Who spends the equivalent of a full-time job plus overtime on a "hobby"? Who neglects their real life significant other, family, and friends in favor of a "hobby"? No one. Only addicts.

And those supporting the boyfriend in this video, whether it's real or not – you are all addicts too. Try getting some help for the insecurity issues you have that make you want to sink your life into a game to the exclusion of all else! I mean, seriously, as you're laying on your deathbed and, provided someone put up with you long enough to have children with you, what are you going to tell your grandkids? "I miss all those endless, redundant, mouse-clicking raids and spending all that time with people I didn't know and never met who couldn't care less about the fact I'm dying! Those were the days!"

    Get a clue.

  13. WoW Destroys Lives. Go to wow widows on yahoo. My SO physically attacked me and I gave the ultimatum, me or Wow. I guess he doesnt play it anymore. I have to log in periodically to check emails and Blizzard keeps threatening him to close his account because he let his buddies use it or something.

  15. As somebody who used to have a WoW addict for a roommate, if this happened to him, I would think he would have had the exact same reaction. WoW is worse than many drugs that I have seen. This guys reaction is in line with what I would expect from many WoW addicts.

  17. It's obvious that the guy overreacted. That being said, the girlfriend is a complete b**** and deserves to be dumped. I grew up with an older brother who got me into games (though I'm not as good), so I wouldn't care if my boyfriend played a lot. It's not a big deal if you try to be part of it somehow–start up an account, try out a game, or even just watch. I wish that non-gamers had more sympathy for those who really like games.

  19. If….his caracter have more than $1,000 value item or gold? Nowadays, game item is not just data… or how about time he spent for his caracter? Surely he's kind of wired guy, but I can understand his act. If my girlfriend mess up my miniature what is made of matches… I'll be crazy like this man, of course. Even if it doesn't have any value for other one…

  21. Even though WOW is indeed just a game and even though this is most likely fake remember that to achieve a 'geared' lvl 80 can take a fair bit of time especially if he did it a year ago (as these days it's a bit quicker) so imagine if someone just destroyed something that had taken you 6 months to create……you be a wee bit pee'd off.

If your partner is addicted to a computer game have the sense to talk about it, drastic action will more often than not lead to drastic consequences. If you knew your partner was heavily into computer games when you met (as these things don't tend to occur overnight) then accept him/her or leave. This is 2010, computer games are no longer a 'childish' pursuit and are just as legitimate a pastime as spending your time watching soap operas on TV or going down the pub.

  23. I wouldn't date a guy who is into WOW. Then again, my boyfriend is into Warhammer 40 000 which is just as addictive. Buuuut I like painting, so it isn't too much of a burden.

  25. @WoWAddictGF:

    Well said.

Yeah, playing a video game & creating a cartoon character is such a noble pursuit. Try crafting a better rebuttal.

Some of you need to grow up.

(& I need to stop wasting time on these silly sites!)

  27. I dont really understand people who put in 12-14 hours a day on wow, but most people who play haven't had their lives destroyed, it s hobby. i play about 3 hours a day and i have time to go to do good in school and go to my friends house(he doesnt play wow). Get it through your thick skulls that the gf is a bitch, she needed to talk to him before deleting his characters. On the gnome she deleted items individually to, making it harder to recover the account, meaning she either planned it or she plays wow herself(the female char. wasn't deleted)
