  1. Funny this one.

As I have been into steampunk for over 3 years, it is sad how the flowchart is based on truth.

Still, close to everything which is crafted in good steampunk aesthetics is extremely beautiful. Just take a look at http://www.steampunkworkshop.com

  3. The flowchart is basically right. But it's a formula for people without any imagination. Alternative engineering/art/style is for enthusiasts.

  5. How about adding, "Does it have goggles? No-Add Goggles, Yes-Add MORE goggles!"

and "Are the girls almost naked? No-Take some clothes and rip them, Yes-Rip what clothes they have"

Most of steampunk has gone the way of fashion than keeping to the roots.

Oh and my overall fav "Is there a gun?No- Take a Nerf gun and mod it with brass. Yes-If its not a Maverick its not steampunk"

  8. Wait, aren't gears also an integral part of post-apocalyptic industrial-age storylines? I was under the impression that a steam punk universe required a total lack of electrical wires for it to work, or at least a minimal presence of them so as to suggest that it is a secondary power source at best, with favoritism towards pipes instead.

Heck, a truly steam punk universe would have differently-colored pipes to differentiate between plumbing and power source, so that engineers and plumbers don't get mixed up. Circuitry would either be simple connector devices or else nonexistent at all.

That, and you shouldn't even SEE the gears unless you're inside the machine somehow, which admittedly would be a pretty awesome scene, if only because the clock tower scenes are always epic.

But I digress. <.<; And probably only because I'm DMing a Steam Punk universe right now.
