The Danger of Science Denial

Vaccine-autism claims, “Frankenfood” bans, the herbal cure craze: All point to the public’s growing fear (and, often, outright denial) of science and reason, says Michael Specter. In the following video, he warns that the trend may spell disaster for human progress.

  1. When I have been lied to time and time again by doctors who have been bought out… government agencies that are getting lobbied by manufacturers… only to find out later the doctors (trust person) and the gov't.. (trusted people) were lying. I too am VERY skeptical with ANY information published.

  3. As interesting and valid some of the speakers points were I am left asking myself where is the validity in what he speaks? He is a journalist who is promoting science. He may have done his due diligence with research; and, yes I must agree some things he says are logically sound. What has always concerned, and will always concern me about the American food supply is that the Food and Drug administration is one organization. Not being american I must ask, why is this allowed? America with their drug and fast food obsession, I must see this as a marketing ploy to the sheep in the audience to comply to the FDA's greedy needs yet again.

I apologize if this comes across as elitist, however I truly see the FDA as a criminal organization and America is on a fast track with the rest of the developed world to having major issues regardless of genetically "enhanced" foods or vaccines.

  5. The Repsol advertisement at the end really sours the experience of an otherwise very good talk. The idea that we need to risk the kind of ecological disaster taking place right now in the gulf in order to prolong our addiction to oil is abhorrent nonsense. What we need is to feel the pain necessary to make the changes we need to make so that we can sustain life on this planet.
