I have been a big George Orwell fan ever since I first read “1984” and “Animal Farm” at school.   Who hasn’t heard of the slogans “Big Brother is watching us” and “war is peace, freedom is slavery, and ignorance is strength”?    These are slogans which are now part of our everyday vocabulary, yet it was Orwell who first introduced them to us in “1984”.

To mark the 70th anniversary of the Orwell Diaries, each diary entry is going to be re-published in blog form on WordPress exactly 70 years after it was originally written.    So 9th August 1938 will be blogged on 9th August 2008 and so on.     They will be published here, and of course you can subscribe to the RSS feed.   I highly recommend you subscribe because this will be one fascinating blog.

Entries start on August 9th.   Expect some really thought-provoking stuff.
