The Mountain from ‘Game of Thrones’ Breaks Thousand Year-Old Viking Record

How can anyone forget The Mountain from last season’s Game of Thrones. We’ll post no spoilers, so no worries, but we can say that the man lived up to the name. Played by Hafþór Júlíus Björnsson (no, I didn’t just sneeze), the actor is pretty much a mountain in real life, which he proved recently to a crowd of spectators at the World’s Strongest Viking competition (yes, an actual thing). To say what he did was impressive is to undersell it.

The man lifted a tree.

A 1,250 pound log, to be exact, but where I come from, we call those trees still. The last man who tried it took three steps and his back broke. Read that line again so it properly blows your mind. Björnsson, on the other hand, took five steps before tossing it off his back like a twig. And then he came home to snuggle his doggy on the couch and watch The Real Housewives.

Okay, I made up the last part, but everything before that is true.
