‘Sherlock’ Fans Celebrate Cumberbatch’s Birthday in a Big, Special Way [VIDEO]

Benedict Cumberbatch turned 38 last Friday and his fans wanted to do something extra special.

Instead of just wishing him a happy birthday, over 110 people dressed in their best Sherlock Holmes garb and (politely) stormed University College London. Then they recorded a birthday shout-out, while simultaneously raising money for the Undershaw Preservation Trust, a foundation working to restore Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s former home. Stephen Fry and Sherlock creator Mark Gatiss are involved with the trust and restoration.

The group is also hoping to make it into the Guinness World Record books for most people dressed like Sherlock Holmes in one location. But for those who wished to cosplay as Holmes, a cape, deerstalker cap, and pipe were the minimum requirements in order to be considered by Guinness.
