FOR THE HORDE!
Every other Monday, master swordsmith Tony Swatton forges your favorite weapons from video games, movies, and television. This week, he recreates the Lich King’s Frostmourne from World of Warcraft!
This may be just me, but these never seem to show him “forging” the blade – he just cuts it out of steel and shapes it… so my inner pedant goes all wonky when he says he forges these swords.
To be fair, the poster HERE said he forged it, the video does not. He’s usually pretty specific about the different names for the various processes in the actual videos.
Also a little disappointed it wasn’t forged, but at the same time I understand that spikey fantasy blades don’t lend themselves to being forged. There’s a reason most real blades are lacking in that area. Frostmourne isn’t overly spikey though, a real high layer count pattern weld would have been neat in the blade. Another note is he comes from a prop background. Time is of the essence and grinding tends to be quicker.
