A rap battle between a hardcore nerd and a geek? Funny stuff, even though it’s not exactly accurate.
Rett & Link rules, I love these guys!
[Rett & Link]
Loved it! I’m like maybe 10% nerdy. The rest is geek. When people who are older say nerd instead of geek I hate it. However most call me geek that understand the difference. My best friend was the opposite of me 90% nerd and 10% geek. He was and still LARPs at 28, lived with messy, smelly roommates that barely hold any jobs. Same with him.
Not sounding harsh but while nerd and geek have some things they are sort of alike in, geeks in the world are more sociable. And online we aren’t likely to try and correct your grammar and spelling (I’m sure ones reading this post now and freaking out lol). When my friend says the world loves nerds I point out actually almost all of the time the word geek is used, not nerd. Nerds will forever have a much worse stereotype, especially because of social aspects.
Don’t hate nerds mind you. What I think is sad about this video is many of the things it said describe the my friend. Hes still single and never dated. Meanwhile I have and am now married. On top of it my IQ used to be 152 until my injury dropped it to 109. I told him not to waste his IQ of 148. And yet he ignored free scholarship and is what I described above.
I really hate the damn elitism between geeks and nerds that only surfaced ever since Hipsters made it “cool” to be one or the other. There is no geek vs nerd. They’re synonyms. The reason why it’s so diverse is because everyone has different interests that makes them nerdy/geeky. Some are into video games, others are sci-fi fans, some are book worms, others are computer savvy. And some are a mix.
There is no need for this “well nerds are like this and geeks are different because that”. I mean honestly. One site even tried saying that the difference between nerds and geeks is that one uses a PC and the other uses Apple. That’s ridiculous. Do you understand the amount of idiocracy within this? We’re placing people in different categories of geekiness/nerdiness because of what PRODUCT they use?
Nerd and geek are synonymous. Enough with the elitism crap.
I’d like to thank you for the best comment I’ve seen on this site, ever. Seriously, well said.
THANK YOU! That’s exactly what I was thinking. There is no real difference between Geek and Nerd. They are both different colors made from the same material. It’s only since the rise of fucking HIPSTERS that people started trying to differentiate between the two. Geeks and Nerds rise up and realize we are the same…and lets kick these fucking HIPSTERS out of our beloved fandoms!!!
“On top of it my IQ used to be 152 until my injury dropped it to 109. I told him not to waste his IQ of 148.”
What? Did you take an arrow to your medulla oblongata?
no, what you’re calling a “geek” is actually a “Hipster”, which is a trendy person who happens to like a few geeky activities. A true geek (or nerd, same thing) is someone who embraces their fandom(s) to the point of being exceptionally odd, finds it difficult to associate with “normal” people (what geeks like to call “Mundanes”) on any level and prefers to keep the company of other geeks and nerds pretty much exclusively.
“Ruling aint my thing” ahahahahahaha
The future of baller.
This is stupid and absurd. Building differences like this within the community hurts everyone, and playing to stereotypes is pathetic. If “nerds” and “geeks” can’t get along and see past each others difference to embrace the VAST culture we are creating, what hope is there?
What music did they use?
im pretty sure their description of a geek was more of a hipster
You guys are tards just laugh!! Pocket protector protector protector! hahaha
More like Hipster vs. Geek/Nerd.
