It is either AD (Anno Domini) or CE (Common Era)… Also, metal knives showed up quite a long time before 1940 CE
Some people use BC and AC for Before Chirst and After Chist. Which is silly since if Christ lived then he lived for more than 1 year -.-
They are referring to the birth of Christ, not his life span.
