This November, NASA is slated to send the MAVEN (Mars Atmosphere and Volatile Evolution Mission) to Mars, and they want to get planet Earth involved!

The Going to Mars project managers will choose 3 haikus that will be tucked inside a DVD that will be sent along with the MAVEN spacecraft. The rules are simple: The poems must be haikus; the haikus must be written in English; and anyone can submit, though anyone under 18 will have to have an adult help them create an account.

All submissions must be received by July 1 and then the public will vote starting July 15. The winner will be announced on August 8!
