I’m a faithful DragonCon attendee and securing a hotel room for that annual September convention is equivalent to road rage on a gridlocked interstate.

Pretty much how the Gencon hotel process feels too.
Any large scale con runs into this problem. Scifi, Anime, hell even furry. You get attendance in the 3K range and its a battle to get a hotel room. This is why you become staff. They usually get first dibs on rooms. =D
Thats why i stay at a friends place nearby who is going to the con.
