Were you underwhelmed by the “50 Years of Bond” montage at the Oscars a few Sundays ago?
Well, Kees van Dijkhuizen, Jr. thought the montage was lacking a large part of what makes Bond so iconic — the clever dialogue — so he edited a NEW montage, featuring some of Bond’s best one-liner and exchanges of the past 50 years.

Far too much Daniel Craig.
That was pretty good, but if that was supposed to be a “better Oscars montage” they completely missed the point. The theme of the night was music in film. That’s why they did the montage the way they did – the focus was the music. This didn’t use any of the music other than Skyfall, completely missing what they were going for with the montage and the whole night. (Of course, whether the Oscars themselves executed well is another discussion entirely.)
Also, I kept waiting for it to build to so something more exciting. It stayed at the same emotional spot for me the whole way through. No rise and fall, no excitement, just a steady plodding pace. When I think of Bond, I don’t think of a steady march.
It’s not all bad however, like I said, it was pretty good, and I actually liked it. And honestly, aside from missing the theme of the evening, I do agree this was probably better than the one the Oscars showed.
