I believe *egotistical* is of more current usage.
He took a visit into Balrog’s family home, ate lunch with them,and Balrog’s wife washed his robe, balrog asked him not to tell anybody, after all he has reputation to maintain, and that’s the whole story. The End.
That’s what I first thought when watching this scene the first tine! Nice :-)
