Helmet Hair [Comic]

helmet-hair

So long haired geeks, is this an accurate representation of what would happen to Samus’ hair after putting her helmet on? I don’t have long hair, so I unfortunately cannot pronounce myself on the issue, but I’m sure a few of you can.

  1. Heck no, I have that much hair and I stuff it under helmets hats and wigs all the time. And if you roll it the right way it looks damn nice when you take your helmet off too. It does take a few extra seconds to get your helmet on, but once you get good at it, it’s not hard.

  2. When I had long hair in the SCA I just braided it down my back and it stayed out of the way. A ponytail would NEVER fit inside a helmet and pouring your hair in first is asking for vision problems..

  3. To be fair, this is the same woman whose waist would never fit in that narrow passage and who turns into a tiny ball, which, when the enemy tried to replicate it, kept crushing themselves. And the suit was originally designed for / by a species twice her size.

I just go with ‘Space Warping Science’ and call it a day.

  4. Naah. Push the strands up front behind your ears, twist it all into a little bun-thing at the nape of your neck and pop it into the back of the helmet first. Or, you could do it the way knights in armor used to fight and put a big ol’ floopy bun on *top* of your head for extra padding inside the helmet, but it *will* look like hell once the helmet’s off until you can take a brush to it.

  5. Long time volunteer firefighter…similar phenomena several times I’ve seen women kick off high heels and get into bunker pants while wearing a skirt. I’ve been told they don’t notice it bunching, but I’ve never geared up while wearing a kilt to verify it myself.

  6. She probably uses a swim cap or her helmet uses dimensional technologu and has more space inside than outside, like in Doctor Who public phone.

  7. As a woman with hair past her waist, yes this does tend to happen if left in a pony tail. Braids are the way to go.
