After Earth (Ft. Will and Jaden Smith) [Movie Trailer]

----------------

A new movie directed by M. Night Shyamalan featuring Will Smith and his son, Jaden. What do you guys think? Yay or Nay?

“One thousand years after cataclysmic events forced humanity’s escape from Earth, Nova Prime has become mankind’s new home. Legendary General Cypher Raige (Will Smith) returns from an extended tour of duty to his estranged family, ready to be a father to his 13-year-old son, Kitai (Jaden Smith). When an asteroid storm damages Cypher and Kitai’s craft, they crash-land on a now unfamiliar and dangerous Earth. As his father lies dying in the cockpit, Kitai must trek across the hostile terrain to recover their rescue beacon. His whole life, Kitai has wanted nothing more than to be a soldier like his father. Today, he gets his chance.” [Wikipedia]

  1. Looks pretty interesting…. I kinda wish they hadn't seemed to build up the whole "oh my gosh, we're on earth" when it's clear from the title. Otherwise, the tech looks pretty cool, and the creatures are intriguing. Like so many other upcoming movies, I'm not holding my breath, but I will be keeping an eye on this one.

  2. Everything Will Smith touches turns to gold, and everything M. Night touches turns to shit. I'm voting somewhere in the middle, with hopeful optimism.

    • I was about to cite “I Am Legend” as proof that not everything he touches turns gold… but then I remembered that the movie was good up to when his character died.. So I guess you are correct still.

  3. Legendary General Cypher Raige…. seriously? That sounds like something a 14 year old boy would come up with.

  4. Will, M Night's stuff was all miss after his 2nd movie(and don't even get me started on The Last Airbender). Not holding out much hope for this one.

  5. M. Night Shyamalan's trailers always look intriguing. But in the end, even a polished turd is still a turd.

  6. reminds me a lot of that discovery special on earth after humans where they show the evolutionary changes the animals made. the one where they send probes to see the differences

  7. The trailer seems to have more of Jaden Smith then Will Smith. I see this more as Will trying to get his son more screen time then anything. Over all I'm still iffy. It doesn't seem THAT awesome.

As for movies that Will Smith touching turning to gold? To name a few that sucked and people missed:

Bad Boys 2 (and they are making a 3rd)
Wild Wild West (Only reason I saw it was to see Bai Ling, yummy)
