I have had this remote for nearly 4 years now and it works great. No need to have 5 different remotes sitting around. We have a blu-ray player, a multidisc DVD player, a tv, a receiver and a cable box, all from different manufacturers. Once you set it up how you like on your computer through a USB cable, it works great. The only downside is it really does need to be charged every night as the battery dies quickly.
I have a $10 Philips universal remote for my TV and all of my stuff. I so rarely have to change batteries that I don’t remember if it takes AA’s or AAA’s. It has all of the same buttons but no LCD screen. Why bother with another screen to look at? There’s a frickin’ TV in front of you.
