The human ear can only distinguish a certain number of tone, and since it only takes a few notes for two songs to sound similar, will we one day run out of new music?
Shut up James Gandolfini!!
I think your asking the wrong question. The correct question is, when did we run out of music?
Over 2 decades ago the judge in a George Harrison trial had this to say regarding song theft and plagiarism. "There are only so many combination of notes that sound good together. The fact that 2 or more songs have the same or similar sequences is not unusual and will continue to happen at an increasing rate. The issue here is more about intent and damage. Did the accused intentionally copy? Was the plaintiff damaged due to this intent.?
I only made it half way through that vid, then I was just too exhausted to go on.
