U.S. Navy Soldier Sailor Dressed as Darth Vader Surprises Son [Video]

At the time of the video (May), our kids had been separated from their dad for almost 3 months. They thought they wouldn’t be seeing him until December. My son had stated that he wanted a Star Wars party so he could be Luke and fight Darth Vader (whom he thought was going to be his older cousin). My husband came home for 96 hours to surprise our son at his birthday party… dressed as Darth Vader.

  1. BTW, NAVY = Sailor, ARMY = Soldier, USMC =Marines (Soldier sometimes acceptable, if no Marines are nearby), USAF = Airman (Yes also a rank. Soldier sometimes acceptable, Airmen don't care. Army may get upset though). *Twitch, twitch* ok, done nitpicking. *twitch, twitch*

    • Thanks Eb-Squid, I was about to post the identical thing.

People sometimes don't realize how much the distinction (or failure to properly make it) can agitate us.

It's like referring to every athlete as a "soccer player"… or every doctor as a "dentist".
If you want to use a generic term across all branches, say "service-member".
