I’m sure by now you have heard that Neil Armstrong passed away at the age of 82, due to complications in cardiovascular procedures. Described as a “reluctant hero”, the first man to take a step on any other planetary body deserves a head nod, at the very least, from the geek community across the world.
Take a read of the obit (linked above) if you want to read more about a man who truly made history. But let this be a small salute to honour his passing and say thank you for a life devoted to pushing the limits and for giving us an example of someone who reached for the stars and actually went there.

Rest in peace, Neil Armstrong.

Neil Armstrong was one of my greatest heros when I was a kid. It didn't really matter that the United States was being a ass or that their president was a joke.
He did something for all humanity, not just for a single country.
Knew the man was an American hero because of Apollo 11. But after reviewing his pre-astronaut days I know now that this man was an American hero before he ever donned a space suit. Rest in Peace Lieutenant.
RIP Neil Armstrong. I wish I could say that we have gone on to greater voyages thanks to your achievement.
