A great infographic listing 10 of the most intelligent people who are still alive today. Who would you add to this list? Let us know in the comments section below!
So Kim-Ung-Yong's claim to fame is the highest IQ in the world at 210, but a few spots down Terrence Tao has a 230 IQ?
Christopher Hirata also beats Kim Ung-Yong with a score of 225…
Perhaps Terrence and Christopher just didn't bother to fill in the forms to get in the Guinness Book of World Records…
IQ is not comparable between different societies. It only a test for your society normed to 100 points in average and adapted every few years to keep the 100 as average and the same variance.
So they basically can be all called highest IQ for their respective society.
Hey, cool, I’ve met one of the 10 smartest people in the world! :)
Neil deGrasse Tyson needs to be on any list of the smartest people on the planet
Marilyn vos Savant
So, where’s a decent IQ test?
Disappointing that all of these are men but one, and her entire entry centers on her father's work.
Heck, if all it takes is 170 to get on this list, most of my family could be on it.
what on earth test are they using that goes so high?
Ah, the intelligence quotient. The purest form of pissing contest in geekdom.
Hmm, the text says "Below, though are 10 people that nobody would deny are *unworthy* of being called the smartest people alive today." Shouldn't that read "worthy"?
I can beat them all up.
Make me feel inadequate at 147.. haha
JAMES WOODS IS SMARTER THAN STEPHEN HAWKING?!?!?!?!?! yes, that deserves to be capitalized
Considering he pissed it away as a B-movie actor with a poker habit, I'd say no, IT DOES NOT.
I guess that goes to show that IQ isn't everything.
Joel Spira, CEO of Lutron Electronics is the smartest man I've ever had the privilege of knowing :)
This is just depressing to read.
Judit Polgar never beat Bobby Fischer…
Judit Polgar is a great chess player and was a child prodigy at the game, but she didn't beat Bobby Fischer aged 15. She beat Fischer's record for becoming a Grandmaster at the youngest age.
Not a single black person = not going to hang this in my science classroom (though I'd like to). I know truth is more important than being politically correct, but I question how hard the maker of this graphic really looked for ultra-brilliant people of diverse backgrounds.
James Woods had Sean Young, dumped her, and got a restraining order against her. He's not real bright.
To anyone that has a high IQ, DON'T WASTE YOUR GIFT!
In my case I had an IQ of 152. Then at 16 I had a brain injury that dropped it down to 109. My life is totally difrrent now and I am on SSI, never thought my life would be like this. I have a friend who has an IQ of 146 and he went to college then dropped out so he could LARP more. Now he stil LARPs and works at a drive through. TO many people was waste their IQ or don't use it right. For all we know you could be the guy that invents the cure for cancer.
Bravo Mr.Woods, bravo.
Actually, the diagram has a big problem. It's all good and fine to clock these people in with these numbers, but there is no test that can actually measure this high reliably – it's impossible to calibrate. Standard IQ tests can be calibrated with thousands of people, but for IQs >150, forget it. The precise numbers are more or less handwaved, arbitrary results that could likely be just as much 50 points lower or higher. As such, comparing IQs in that range doesn't make much sense either. Any diagnostic test, and an IQ test is nothing else, is only as good as its calibration and up there, we're way outside the calibrated range.
