Couldn't that mean that overall, women visit more sites? I mean, the 99 million more monthly visitors doesn't necessarily mean 99 million more unique people overall

Good point. It would make sense that they would visits more sites if they spend more time online. Here is research that suggests women do spend more time online:

Orkut and foursquare show slight imbalances but don't say to which side.
Yes they do… Orkut has one woman next to it and foursquare has two men.
Of course there are majority women on My Space. Only women live that long.
It's weird that there are more men on deviantart than women. Don't know why, but I always thought there would be more women there.
