DC Universe Online is Now Free-to-Play!

I’ve never played World of Warcraft, because I thought that it was stupid and a total waste of time.  Now that I see this, though, I realize that it just wasn’t the right kind of nerdy for me.  This DC Universe thing, I can totally get behind.

Though the increase hasn’t manifested without its share of problems, Sony’s DC Universe Online MMO has definitely recruited some new players — like, a ton of them. According to Sony Online Entertainment’s executive director of entertainment Lorin Jameson, “DC Universe Online’s transition to free-to-play has been welcomed by the community and gamers with heroic enthusiasm. In just one week alone, 1 million new players have joined DCUO, with a 50/50 split between PC and PS3.”

  1. I played this game, got to max. lvl wiithin 2 weeks playing 2/3hours a day, barely met any other players… A rip-off considering the quite high price I paid for this + monthly fees. It didn't get better despite the fat updates.

  2. whats the song on the video does anyone know?
and about the post, I play a much better superhero MMO called City of Heroes which went free to play last month or the month before which is quite team oriented, you should look it up

  3. Been playing it as a "freetard" for the last couple of days, and i find it to have a mild case of consoleitis. This in that one group of unlockables are weapon related, and those are used via button sequences (you either tap or hold either the close or ranged button to in some pattern or other to perform different attack sequences). End result is that they become bothersome to use in a fight, while also being the main way to deal with groups of mobs…

  4. I played in beta and the first couple of months of retail until I was sent to some work training. Got back after the hack incident killed the playerbase. Until then it was fun. Just understand it's an action MMO and not something like WoW. I.e., no auto-attack, button sequences required for moves, etc. On occasion it's a little annoying because it was designed in part with the PS3 in mind, but it's a fun departure for PC if you're not one of those who has to throw a fit when you can't customize your controls.
