Since Nathan Fillion played Captain Malcolm Reynolds on Firefly and Captain Hammer in Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog, it stands to reasons that people greet him as “Captain” I guess.

I greet everyone as Captain. Keeps me from being picked first for extra work.
You mean "Mal Reynolds", as in "Malcolm", not "Mel" as in… uh… Melanie?

This is awesome… I know that is how I'd greet him if ever met him..until he asked me to call him Mal…or Castle…
Would have made the sexual tension between Inara and “Melanie” much more fun to watch! ;-)
I said "Wot?"
That's the benefit of being awesome.
retraded. I want my 15 seconds back.
Very cool.
Why is it a thing to over explain the joke in a caption? Can we stop this trend? I don't like it.
I required the caption to make sense of the 'joke' here as I have no idea who this guy is. but you're right, if you don't get it straight away, it won't be any funnier after reading the caption.
If you do not know who they guy is, then why bother posting the "joke". Its basically like you are telling the joke and you don't understand your own punch line.
