Five Geeky Etsy Gifts for Under $20

The holiday season is approaching quicker than a turbo-charged jet-powered robot-reindeer-propelled sleigh. Just two days ago, I witness my first in-store holiday song (“It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year“) and I cringed. As much as I love the season, and love getting together with my family, there’s an amazing stress factor involved every year. Hey, we don’t have a lot of money, and I like to make things. But it’s quite clear that some members of my family likely won’t want another crocheted scarf, y’know?
The second-best thing to home-made (or, well, probably even better in some cases) is someone else’s home-made. And if you want to really add something unique and inspired to your shopping list, especially for the geeks in your life, you really ought to try Etsy.
To make your shopping even easier, here’s five delightfully geeky Etsy gifts for under $20.
Call me an elf.

Dr. Horrible Quote Buttons by fadingendlessly – For a mere $6.00 a set, really, these speak for themselves. Notwithstanding recent failures, Mr. Whedon’s Dr. Horrible really is a geeky dream come true. Perfect as stocking stuffers. Add a hammer for that extra touch.

Have a dashing significant other, or someone who likes to dress to the nines? Consider a dash of geek with these SIP Circuit Board cufflinks by digiBling. I think these may be one of the only sets I could ever convince my husband to wear (except, maybe, little triforces) and at $16.00, it’s kind of a no-brainer.

Do you love a tabletop gamer girl? You should. And if you do, and if she has a good sense of style (and perhaps a sense of humor) these D20 Dice Earrings by wyrdandwired are perfect. Sure, you can take your dremmel set out and bore holes in a pair of dice, but honestly, at $14 I don’t think it’s even worth trying. For those more adventurous, there are also a series of other designs, including necklaces and pendants, as well.

I probably love this little Mario Mushroom by WoolyGeeks a little too much. I mean, how can you say no to that face? $12? I’d pay at least twice that, and would run around the house pretending to grow every time I nibbled on it. I mean. Ergh. You know… what I mean… right? Ahem.

Then again, maybe you want something special to mark your love in that way only geeks can. Consider these Pacman and Ms. Pacman necklaces by YellerCracka for a mere $15.00 (also available in pairs of each, of course). Because nothing says I love you like Pacman. But then again, the Zelda fairy in a bottle is also quite impressive!
Keep in mind that many of these crafters require advance notice, especially with larger orders or custom orders. So be sure to check their profiles for additional instructions.
Remember, beyond being a well of geeky wonder, Etsy is a great way to support artists (and geeks!) from around the world. Truly, supporting them is a gift that keeps on giving.

You know, I am pretty sure I have those same dice, but not in earring form. Yay for red and swirls.
I was going to go to sleep, but I think now I will browse Etsy instead :P

I couldn’t agree more with this statement. Last Christmas me and my wife actually did ALL of our major shopping on etsy. It inspired my wife, and now she *shameless plug* sells accesories on etsy herself.
In fact I got some awesome Keyboard key cufflinks I sported on my wedding day off etsy. :D best gift ever.
