Nokia has always been a heavy R&D supporter and deserves to be paid for whatever technology they came up with that Apple is using. If I remember well, Apple, while being quite aggressive when it comes to defend its intellectual property, is also quite daring when using other's patents. Palm can tell, as this company who was selling a mouse called "mighty mouse" before Apple launched its device... That being said, "compensation for losing market share" is a goddam joke as Nokia would have licensed its technology to Apple anyway and thus, lost some ground on the smartphone sector.
