I think to a lot of people, setting up a PS3 is an actual problem. A big part of that $130 is the knowledge of what needs to be done. A lot of plumbing work may be pretty simple, if you know what to do.

You're right about the market. They're obviously not marketing to people who have half a clue what they're doing with their TV.

It's not $130 to push the buttons, it's $130 to know which buttons to push. Yes this service seems like a rip-off to people reading a website called “geeks are sexy”. To my mom, it may be worth $130 to get a PS3 setup.

Like you said, consumers set the market. If people think this service is worth $130, BestBuy will keep selling it at $130.

Yes, they're *preying* on people who don't know better, and don't know how or where to look to find the info for themselves, or to evaluate how much the service should cost.

It was Michael C. McDonald who said "there's a sucker born every minute."

Remember, too, that the CEO of BestBuy is the one who said that people who use rebates are 'leeches.' How do you stop this kind of behavior, this kind of thinking? Vote with your feet, vote with your dollars. Take them somewhere else.
