A weekly serial is much more suited to how Lucas wanted to tell Star Wars in the first place. My biggest issue is that it makes Episode III even more unbelievable, because Anakin is no longer the reckless, wild Jedi he was in Episode II. Unless they have a story arc covering how Anakin gets back to his angry self by the time Episode III begins, they've pretty much ruined their own credibility. Anakin is being responsible, has a Padawan, and is teaching her and restraining her and so forth. Just kind of makes what comes next even more unbelievable to me.

I thought The Clone Wars was a decent show. Even though the writing for Star Wars has become a bit more childish, one could generally expect an amazing level of production value with anything Lucas creates, but I found the animated series to be really cheap looking. Combine that with particularly weak writing, and I just couldn't watch it. I made it to about halfway through the eight episode until I realized that the the whole plot had basically been ripped off from The Empire Strikes Back. I only made it that far into the season due to deep sentimentality, but I could only take so much. When a series starts the copy itself, you know that creative well has run dry.

Speaking as a Star Wars fan who enjoyed the last three movies, I really hated the first season.
