Surely it's far more distracting having to click 'back' every time you wanted to go to another network. And the designs of Card.ly are far more busy than the minimalist style of the Unhub header.

Sure, you might not like it personally, but Unhub is far less distracting and busy than Card.ly, and that's a simple fact, not an opinion. Minimalist design with a few sparse links is far less busy and distracting. I did point out that the latter has more benefits, such as the About page, so please don't think I was talking Card.ly down at all.

If anything, Unhub is the Google (in terms of simple-but-effective design only, not it's domination or anything) of the pair, not the Yahoo.

This site was a little confusing, I kept trying to add social network sites but it wouldn't add them. Is it my browser (chrome) or the site, I wonder? I'll have to try and add more later.
