I’m Sure Glad They Were Wrong: Future Fashions from the Past

Wow, just check out this horrible bunch of fashion predictions from the 1930’s.  I for one hope these don’t develop in the next 70 years either!

I wish they’d gone into more detail about the electric belt.  I’m not exactly sure how something being “electric” automatically imbues it with magical properties.  Also, if skirts ever disappear I’m quitting the future.

Thanks to @kristieaddison of Transit of Venus for pointing this out.

Where can I buy these clothes? Am I too late what with it being 2009?

  2. BelchSpeak says:

You know some of it was dead on. The cantalever shoes, the idea that the skirt would disappear, the mesh clothing on women, all of these we have seen- even the wedding dress was not too far off. For the man to carry everything on a belt pouch including a phone is dead on accurate, but the clothing style was something from a “muslims in space” idea.

aluminium! we have laptops made of that now!

lol “Oooh, swish!” So cheesy! I love the past. But I’m glad none of these outfits exist, they’re horrible.

  5. dcisfun says:

did anyone notice how people would live in perfectly temperature controlled environments? plain a/c baby, keep it cool!

  6. Marco Mo says:

WTF!… some ideas aren’t that wacky (except for the “perfectly temperature controlled environments”) but the clothes are just not right. I know some people that would wear that… but they’re not exactly common people

  7. Sachi says:

Some of them are disturbing, but some of them I would totally wear. I suppose its all a matter of opinion.
