I don't really think that will work. Not on the technology because according to LIVE videos (not ads ;p) it works, but I think it will be a gadget. Just as the sixaxis on PS3, which is completely useless.

The video is very impressive. If they can make it work like that with 90% confidence in 90% of environments xboxs are played in, it'll be great.
It reminds me of the eyetoy for PS2 a long time ago and it is certainly a wii-counter.

I wonder how you play Halo with it.

Stephen: I don't think we have to worry about needing to know kung fu moves expertly, or how to drive like a pro, or even how to properly mimic being a giant monster to be able to enjoy this motion capture gaming. As it is all tied into gaming, I think it'll be more fun to feel like you're really doing an impressive high kick when you only do it half right- I don't think they're going to expect precision, especially in the skateboarding segment.

I think this looks extremely fun, and I like how they show that anyone can enjoy it, not just kids or 20 year-olds. It definitely overshadows the Wii.

This could be fun (if it really works as well as pictured) but it has some serious draw backs. True natural motions like steering, playing ball, or skate boarding will be difficult to do well without the natural feedback you get doing the real thing. The wii works OK with motion because it only requires simple imitation of the real motion, but allows our brains to think we are doing much more then we really are.

Much of the fun of playing games is being able to do things in the game you could never do in real life, if I have to kick and punch like a real kung-fu master to beat a game I am screwed.

It's very possible it may be a must have technology in a few years... but for right now those commercials are cringe worthy.
