Besides a pea sized dark spot on the screen, no problems. My Sansa 6gb MP3 has been dropped countless times, had water spill on it, buttons have popped off, but still it works great. I bought it for $40 as a refurbished product over 4 years ago.

My Ti-84 fell out of my backpack into the mud and was run over by a truck, and then was left out in the rain/mud for a couple days. I've dropped my Palm Centro (no case or protection) on concrete and other surfaces over 10x now and it keeps on ticking. Granted I haven't run a car over it or bashed the screen directly onto anything. Mostly I'm saying that any product that can't survive a drop or two should be a free giveaway (or never sold), because every phone gets abused eventually.

I'm a very klutzy person. It also had a manual tuning dial which somehow managed to unscramble encrypted channels on analog cable in the mid 90s! I also had a cellphone which was in my pocket when I slipped on heavy ice. Of course, the phone was obliterated, but it almost certainly prevented me breaking my hip, so at least it died for a good cause.

My dad built a portable TV set with a 7 inch screen in the early 70s which not only survived a car wreck in Libya where the car was a write off, but was still working over 30 years later. (I'm pretty sure it stayed intact largely due to the ClearArmor skin I had on it.) But the most impressive part was that the LCD wasn't damaged, and continued to work fine. As did the touch panel. (Yes, I ~did~ replace the touch panel though - not fond of looking at everything through a cracked screen!)

Yup, I dropped my iPhone 3G on its face onto concrete and the touch panel cracked quite severely.
