Like Belchspeak said, the mold should have been hot too otherwise you get that rapid expansion ‘pop’ effect, a bit like if you put a stone cold tray in a hot oven sometimes you’ll see/hear the tray flex as it heats up superfast. Kind of like the effect of pulling a sheet tight suddenly from each corner, whatever is on the sheet will leap in the air!!

That made me jump right out of my skin! The mold should have been hot too, which is why it popped.
