Spotting silly vanity license plates is always a fun activity, especially double-innuendo or borderline-obscene ones. But some of the best still come from those who show their geek pride on their bumpers. Kudos to the clever Flickr photographers who make a hobby of spotting geeky license plates! And of course, there’s more where these came from.
If you were going to show your geek cred on your license plate, what would it say? If you’re stumped, there’s always GKS R SXY.

The license plate on my 09 Scion xB says “OTAKU”. I got that back when I was really starting to get into manga, anime and all things Japan.
Did you realise, at the time, that in Japan the term “Otaku” is derogatory and considered to be very insulting?
you post was possibly the most homosexual one here
The two Ohio plates are from Franklin county, i.e., Columbus. Former resident here.
Here is another vanity plate from Columbus, Ohio http://www.flickr.com/photos/thatcar/2104503002/in/set-72157594181971828/
I used to live next to that guy. (Or…’That Car’) He lives in the Colonial Hills development of Worthington. There’s another similar car in their driveway.
The CMYK RGB is really …Awesome :D
hi i am from sydney how should i read the number plate to make sence = CMYK RGB we have in Australia only 6 caracters to play with the registration plate = sad
Regards Andres

I know a girl who has this license plate, which is one of the geekiest I’ve seen to date. Before that, she also had this one.
Try to honor the creative common license next time and give me credit for the photo.
Actually, there is a link to your photo page in the post. Not only do we want to be sure that we’re honoring Creative Commons, but we want our readers to be able to follow the link and see more of your photography. It’s credit well deserved!
We did specify the source of the picture Steven… there’s a link to your flickr page right on top of it, just like all the other pictures featured in this post.
The one I have seen that I like like the best is here:

There are very cool.
I’ve got a friend with UID ZRO.
im going car shopping this weekend. i already looked up available plates. the one im gunnin for?
MST3K.
If you’re in Ontario, Canada, you’re out of luck – there’s a guy in the Keele/Bloor area of Toronto with an MST3K plate and a Cthulhu-fish on his bumper…. So awesome
The ultimate — one I only heard about — was a classic VW Bug with California plates inscribed “FEATURE”
I’ve seen a couple in NC that say “2600 HZ” and “EPIC FAIL”
License plates are probably the first step. The next step could be changing the personal name :-)
I’d use AXS GURU. I’ve been recognized as a Microsoft Access Most Valuable Professional for over ten years now.
th belgian one:CSS is not a nerd plate; it’s coincidence.
Custom plates are extremely expensive and the few that i’ve seen are on luxury cars…
Our system just increments for license plates: always 3 letters and 3 numbers (recently they’ve distributed all of those so now it’s 3 numbers and 3 letters)
Agreed. the Belgian numberplate (CSS-503) is probably coincidental. 3letters-3numbers are standard for all plates here and custom plates are rare.
Guy I worked with had a tag of ‘I BYTE’
I saw a Corvette years ago with “It Is”
And before that one with “RUNVS41″ (are you envious for one).
Best one I saw recently was on a black Mustang: NAZGUL
These are HILL AIR EE US. “SU ROOT” is the best.
Lmao. I’ve been passed by a car with a “HA-OWNED” plate.
There’s an Alabama plate running around that says PROGEEK. Wonder what he does for a living.
I would love to have a “PWN’D” license plate myself. Or something like “LOL NUBS”.
My Hawaii plate says AFK. No one here ever gets it. :(
Maybe they just don’t ask because…they think you’re AFK. :D
My boyfriend’s is probably the geekiest I’ve seen lately. His reads “Ecto-1″… clearly awesome but nerdy none-the-less. I wish I had a photo
I knew a cop whose plate read XLR8

Here’s my car’s plate. I’m a graphic designer by trade.
My license plate says “URL 404″, which is funny because I work as a web developer, and it was one of the reasons I bought that car :D
