Threadless Initiates Twitter Tees! [#twittertees]

Today, Threadless announced a nifty new project to involve the Twitter community directly in their t-shirt design process. For those who don’t know, Threadless is a fun website that puts up artist designs so that visitors can vote on them. The highest voted pieces get to be featured on their very own t-shirts (for a limited time only).

The new project, called Twitter Tees, allows users to submit their own tweets or those of their friends for consideration. The tweets are then voted on by the general public and eventually the top champions have their tweets designed artistically and placed on a t-shirt for sale. There are two great bonuses:
- If you submit YOUR tweet and it is chosen, you recieve $500!
- If you submit another person’s tweet and it’s chosen, you get $140 (the number of characters in a tweet).

One thing I love about the new site is their use of the Twitter API. They not only use it to verify your account with Twitter, so you can grant permissions to your own tweets, but they bring up the accounts you’re following for easy access to the people you know the most about. It’s a very slick interface and fun to play with. I’m sure a number of you are going to lose the remaining productivity you have left in the day to voting for tweets and coming up with your own!

Nice! Someone needs to come up with a system where you can submit your Twitter username to order a t-shirt with “@username” on the front and “Follow Me!” on the back. :)
This is so cool… I’ve already sent mine, hehe
Hi, Willem:
There already is such a thing, “Made From Dolly” makes custom twitter t-shirts. See link below.
