Apple’s Response to Microsoft’s Laptop Hunters Ads

PCs with no viruses, crashes, or headaches? According to Apple, this doesn’t seem to exist. But we all know that’s mostly lying propaganda, don’t we?

Wow, a bit bitter are we? It’s a commercial. Also, there is no such thing as a PC that has no viruses or crashes, Macs included. Sure the implication is that Macs don’t have these problems, but it’s an ad, a certain amount of exageration is to be expected.

  2. Binnsy says:

Ugh these adverts annoy me and I don’t see how there allowed, at least Microsoft have kept theres factual, admitted there giving less cash to the people than a mac costs but it proves you can get everything people want for less money than you would spend on a mac.

Mac’s adverts are just blatant propaganda, my vista rigs crash so infrequently its a turn up for the books when something does happen, yet the macs I had to use for one of my modules at uni were useless falling over all the time.

These adverts do annoy me I have to say.

Microsoft’s ads are hardly truthful. The machines that the people end up with often don’t match the requirements the people state in the begining. It’s advertising, it stretches the truth. It’s how it works.

  3. Steven H. says:

Oh no! Your faceless corporation is spreading propaganda; while mine is doing the same, but I call it truth! Everyone who argues over Mac vs. PC seems like a three year old, who got their toy taken away.

  4. Rarst says:

Shouldn’t Mac have left when it reached “no viruses” ? PCs were honest at least. :)

  5. croom says:

I have seen macs crash I have seen them get viruses. and i have seen many people bash their heads into tables trying to figure out how to use Mac’s. All computers have these problems. My solution buy a brick they only have viruses when you sneeze on them, they only crash when you drop them, and they are useful for giving other people headaches :)

Blahblahblah *complains about something or other* blahblahblah.

I have a Mac mini and a MSI Wind. I love both for what they are used for.

This ad, at least, was the first “I’m a Mac” ad I have laughed at in over a year.

  7. MrCorey says:

I just watch them. They’re all funny. They’re all lies. Buyer beware.

Have worked for the biggest media agencies in the world – the people who use macs do so as they are generally pretty retarded when it comes to computers, have no idea what the hell they are doing, or think they are soo cool for school and their shit don’t stink – the ones on PC’s are spending half their day fixing the world of retards on macs.

If you have a MAC – you are gullible, marketing stooge who seeks approval.

Yes have to work with Macs, yes have worked with them for well over 15 years, yes they were the original windows blah, blah, yes they were good, yes they serve a purpose (stroking the sensitive egos of lame coders), no they are not cool.

      @audas:

For someone who works with computers, you don’t know a lot about them. As I said in my post, both Macs and Windows have their own purposes and values. As you should well know.

Yes, people who use Macs use them for the simplicity, but that doesn’t make them stupid. People buy pre-sliced bread for simplicity but that doesn’t make them any more stupid than people who buy an unsliced loaf. Both just make things easier.

Sure, you’ll never be able to have a thin sandwich one day and a thick sandwich the next with a pre-sliced loaf, but that’s like how a Mac user won’t have the tons of options a PC user has. But most Mac users are totally happy with what they have and appreciate the simplicity.

You’re a great geek. And you like the options a PC gives you. Good for you. But plenty of schoolkids who’d be totally overwhelmed by Vista are perfectly happy with using an iMac. Plenty of grandparents who just want to combine all the new media (music/films) and a computer are happy with a Mac mini. Plenty of people in film like the over-specced Mac Pros.

If they didn’t, Apple wouldn’t be so successful. No company is every wholly powered by ‘cool’, and you make yourself sound idiotic to suggest it. Especially from someone who apparently ‘knows’ computers.A
