@admin : Your not thinking logically, this new Intro will stay. All future episodes are now in HD which requires a new HD version of the intro, hence the reason why they re-did it.

The new intro sequence is cool, the couch thing is just the usual couch gag but longer.

If the intro sequence stays, it will be easier now to differentiate the good old episodes from the crappy new ones.

The opening of every episode consists of two parts: the opening sequence and the couch gag. What you saw there was just an extended couch gag.

this isn’t new at all. the simpsons has been changing the couch scene in the intro for years. they also play around with extending the intro all the time too.

It’s interesting at least, nice that they show more of the other characters and whatnot while still keeping elements of the original opening. Honestly though, I could care less about the Simpsons these days, they don’t seem to be that funny anymore. I can’t even remember the last time I watched a Simpsons episode.

I don’t think it’ll remain that way.. This opening sequence was made to introduce the 1st Simpson episode… in HD!!!
