I have been a long time customer, but will have to switch if Dell can't build and ship quicker. My main complaint would have to be customer service. The gentleman from India (or close by) could of cared less with my concerns. Why would a company like Dell use such a worthless customer support system. Save a penny, lose a buck, doesn't make since. I will be checking out Apple today. So Dell, beware, I might only be one upset customer, but by all the blogs out there, I'm not the only one.

I just ordered 2 computers last month, and was amazed by the 30 plus days for delivery. I purchased an XPS laptop for $1906.93 in September with an expected delivery of Nov 2(long wait but I liked the spec). I received an email ~ Nov 14th stating the order was delayed...after a few weeks I looked at my order online only to find it was cancelled with no notice to me. I immediately logged into PayPal and found the transaction was still pending and they didn't bother to release my $ back to me. Today is now Jan 28th and I am still calling these guys every few weeks to get my funds released. Every time I call they just keep escalating the request to a manager. This has been ridiculous but I'm still confident I'll get my $ back, however my heart races every time I have to deal with this call and I get so worked up! The customer support is all offshore and the Indian's on the phone are very bad at Customer Service, I could go on about that topic on its own. What makes me smile is; a) I will never buy a thing from them again but my company has three Dell servers on-stream right now and it’s the last they will see from us. B) I’m an IT professional and have enough influence in my small circles that I’m sure I’ll be able to scare off more than my sales. Go **** yourselves Dell :-P

I have been super stressed about this as well. Although this post was started a length of time ago, I'm going to have to chime in. March 2009, I purchased a XPS laptop with a solid state HD. This was running around $1400 at the time. The price didn't seem bad, I had Dell credit. I went ahead and ordered it. I was originally quoted a wait time of one month. No problem, I'd wait it out for a month. Well, I went through the entire process and it was even shipped from Tenn. It made it all the way to Griffith, IN (delivery was due that day) when it was requested by sender to be returned. It never made it to my doorstep. I called the support to find out what was going on and the Customer Rep told me it was because no one was home, or that the shipping company requested it went back. I called the shipping company and they informed me that Dell put int a request for that product to come back. I waited a few days, called back to customer service, and the gentleman still insited that it was not Dell. He even read back to me what he had on the screen "United returned to sender" but he did not read me the last two words at the end of the line "shipper requested." When I asked him what the last words were, he read the same thing back to me, still ignoring the "shipper requested" portion. I became upset at this point when I had to wait an additional 15 days to have the product shipped to me. I then had a second invoice, with a restocking fee applied. I immediately wrote an email to the company and a few days later, the issue was resolved. I swore I would never buy another Dell product again, but I decided to give them a shot once more. I've ALWAYS purchased Gateway equipment, with nothing but great luck. This season, I purchased a box for about $1800 from Dell on 11/24. It was quoted with a shipdate of 12/17/2009. No problem, I can wait it out. I just received an email this previous Friday 12/11/2009, stating that my Order has been delayed, and the NEW estimated ship date was 1/12/2010. I don't understand! I've spent good money with this company, but continued to get the short end of the stick. This will definitely be the last product I purchase from them.

Good Evening!

Although this post was started a length of time ago, I'm going to have to chime in.

March 2009, I purchased a XPS laptop with a solid state HD. Ordered a Dell a few weeks back (5 weeks before X mas for a gift), paid for it, then after they confirmed the order and sent a confirmation email, they canceled it, and started building a new computer with a completely different processor. They never sent an email or notified me in any way that they had changed the components of the customized computer I ordered and were now building me a different one that I didn't want. When checking the status of my order a few days later, I noticed what had happened. An hour on the phone got me a bad line to India and little help. After 3 calls I finally got the right person who was trying to sell me on the "free upgrade" AKA, they are out of the original processor at the moment. I finally was able to get my order canceled. I then had to talk to someone else as they wanted to charge a 15% restocking fee on my order. Finally it was over. I gave it a week and decided to again order a customized computer from Dell. Of course only to be met again with a great big headache. Paid through paypal, unfortunately my paypal account didn't pay Dell directly and the payment was pending. This prompted Dell to immediately cancel the order and eventually get me an email explaining the order was canceled. Reason for cancelation: OTHER. What exactly is "OTHER" I thought? Two calls, 26 minutes of being on hold got me a transfer to a sales department that was closed. YAy back in the custoemr service cue line!! Another call, 23 minutes on hold a 5 minute explanation to a customer call agent then got me a transfer to a voicemail. No call back the next day from the voicemail by 3:30 pm. Finally called Dell back, again with the hold (only 14 minut4es thankfully) and spoke with someone who guaranteed that my PayPal payment would be returned to me in Full. My fingers are crossed that this is the end!! I suppose the second order problems could be part of a problem to do with PayPal and my specific account but I think that my troubles of trying to get answers from Dell have resulted in way too much wasted time and way too many hurt feelings for me to want to give them a dime ever again. From reading all these posts I am starting to seriously doubt the x mas present would have showed up on time anyways.

Ordering a DELL IS LIKE A TRIP TO HELL!!

Ordered a Dell a few weeks back (5 weeks before X mas for a gift), paid for it, then after they confirmed the order and sent a confirmation email, they canceled it, and started building a new computer with a completely different processor. After 3 calls I finally got the right person who was trying to sell me on the “free upgrade” AKA, they are out of the original processor at the moment. I finally was able to get my order canceled. I then had to talk to someone else as they wanted to charge a 15% restocking fee on my order. Finally it was over. I gave it a week and decided to again order a customized computer from Dell. Of course only to be met again with a great big headache. Paid through paypal, unfortunately my paypal account didn’t pay Dell directly and the payment was pending. This prompted Dell to immediately cancel the order and eventually get me an email explaining the order was canceled. Reason for cancelation: OTHER. What exactly is “OTHER” I thought?

By: Scooter

Ditto. Ordered a loaded, $2200+ Studio laptop on 1/10 thru an institutional account. Was originally due to ship 1/16....then 1/23...then 1/30...then 2/6. Starting to see a pattern? Spent more than an hour on the phone (including many "disconnections") with no less than 15 different "customer service" people (from no doubt many different countries), all who were unable to give a specific explanation for the delay (all of whom I had to give my order # & customer # to after each transferred phone call - WTF?). Was finally put to a person who told me the T9400 processors are the big holdup. Would've been nice to know three weeks ago! Worst part is, after this last delay, we apparently didn't contact them in time to continue the order, so they canceled it on 2/7. When speaking with their rep, she informed me she'd have to "rebuild" the order from scratch, even though the canceled order is still shown on their site (again, WTF?). So now having had the order canceled, I've now lost my place in the queue and my "new" ship date is 2/24...they claim they cannot alter my priority at this point. Wow. Just wow. HP, here I come. Are you listening Dell? Maybe you should consider hiring back some of those 4000+ people you laid off.

Ditto. I ordered a Mini 12 over the weekend and did a Google search just now (to see if they were underpromising on the delivery date of Feb 16) and came across this post. Now I am uber disappointed that I didn't just buy something else. I would have bought a refurb (which I know from past experience ships quickly) but I put this on my small business account since this is for my company and the outlet won't take small business credit. GGGGGRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR Now I am all disappointed.

Oh, man….
