This seems like a ploy to get be able to sell you more stuff. Now they can sell you the content AND get you to guy another flash drive that you probably already have enough of. I guess it could be a nifty way to buy a flash drive and have it come preloaded with content on it, but i cant see myself buying more than one movie this way.

most cars now have USB ports, and many televisions as well. So no this is not rediculus nor an idea just thrown into the market. Also, if you get bored of the movie... just format the USB key and use it for something else... you can not do that with DVD's :P

Sounds to me like it's another good way to spy on people. (Remember the spyware that was on DRM protected CDs?)

This is a bit ridiculous. If I buy music I want it to either come online, or come in a format that I can put into my car's stereo (ie CD). If I buy a movie I want it to play on my DVD player, and last time I checked there was no usb port on my player.
Sometimes I think Sony just throws ideas into the market to see what sticks. Blu Ray was successful, minidisc no so much. I also hate their proprietary memory format their digital cameras use.

Lol, I already lose my CDs and DVDs all around the place, so I don't want to imagine how it would be with Flash drives :)

I don't see anything wrong with it. I've always thought usb drives could be the next alternative to dvds and cds.

It has its merits. Far better than video wrapped in DRM that can't be played anywhere except the PC you downloaded it on or iPod only.

Plus, now that I think about it... you can't scratch the USB drive :-)
