I have a bad feeling about this just looking at how the actors fill their roles. “Do it for me?” The actor delivers that line like a high school girl at prom. These are jaded, cynical characters – Laurie Juspecyk certainly not least of all. The other actors don’t seem much more “real” – Nite Owl struck me as superficial and Rorschach looked like…a man in a mask. You could hear him working his voice. I understand that it is a difficult movie to make, and the direction looks fine, but the strong characters were a huge part of the novel. I just can’t see this movie living up to that.

Not quite. But the character ‘Nite Owl’ is probably based off him. Watchmen doesn’t feature any big name super-heros, it’s its own setting with unique characters. It is a graphic novel first, after all. Only one Watchmen has any actual ‘powers’. And they all get into the group for a different reason.

Chris: If anything, the comic book movies are more “ridiculous costumes” than Hellboy… Hellboy and Abe and the others are just being themselves while protecting others, while superheroes are hiding who they are and protecting others. In the end, it doesn’t matter what they look like, it’s who they’re protecting and for what reasons.
The Watchmen are trying to live dual lives while trying to do what’s right, I think it’s safe to say that a lot of people do that in real life too.

Oh, and Chris, this movie explores some deep themes like morality and governmental practices. That phrase, “Who watches the Watchmen?” is a bit of a metaphor.

I dunno…this feels alot like “Hellboy” to me..really farsical plot themes and ridiculous costumes. That’s not to say it won’t be an enjoyable movie, but how can anybody take it seriously?

wow this looks awesome, im sure it’ll be huge everyone loves superhero movies. who’s that guy at the end with the weird face and the tophat?
