Douglas Adams clearly ended the trilogy after the fifth book. The story is over. It Shouldn’t be dug up again so someone can play doctor Frankenstien with it.

DON’T PANIC! It will never be considered as an actual part of the series (at least in my eyes). Instead, it will be viewed as an afterthought. They can’t truly integrate it. The book will almost certainly remain as a separate entity written by a separate author. Like a spin-off. However, I am upset that they are trying to claim it as “an addition” to the series. That will not be accepted.

I don’t see the reason for this, either. But yes, I’ll read it because I loved the series, and I guess that’s what they’re counting on. I’ll read it, and shrug, and wonder again why they did it, and it’ll fade into history pretty quickly and end up being a half-remembered footnote to the series.

The odds of it being good are pretty low. Even the last two books written by Adams himself were disappointing. The first two were great, the third was okay and the last two were fairly stinky. I almost wish the first two books could be turned into a single book, because it wraps up pretty nicely at the end. After that, it was almost as if Adams continued with the series when it didn’t really need to be, but at least it was his creation.

Is “Adams widow” worried about installment on her next yacht?
There’s no coherent reason for continuation of this series, except greed. The series have not been interrupted in the middle like “Brave Soldier Schweik.” And while we’re at it, let have Madonna compose the last movement to Schubert’s Unfinished Symphony. This HH sequel will be huge yawner. Hopefully no one will buy it and the abomination will die out on its own.
