For Terminator fans, the Sarah Connor Chronicles are back on television and a new badass terminator, played by Shirley Manson, is on the prowl looking for John and Sarah Connor. Yes, the Shirley Manson, lead singer of the band ‘Garbage’. A nice bonny red haired Scottish Terminator!
Some viewers, especially big fans of the Terminator movies, have voiced their strong criticism of Manson playing a Terminator, saying that her acting was terrible. But how can you possibly judge her by the first episode alone? I mean, come on, give the poor woman a chance!
The part when the guy went to have a leak and the toilet morphed into Manson was a classic. I don’t think I’ll be looking at a toilet the same way again anytime soon!
Did you see the first episode of season 2? What did you think of Manson’s performance? Do you think she is a scary Terminator? Or a bit of a lumpy jelly?
Oh and she also sang a song for the season premiere which I thought was rocking – a cover version of Samson and Delilah. Here it is :

I didn’t realize who she was, but I thought her character was mesmerizing. She was scary as hell. The toilet scene was a shocker, too. I LOVED the song and how they filmed that opening scene.
I think she may be the only thing I actually liked about this second season so far. I mean it looks to me that Summer Glau’s robotic character is going to go on some crazy side-story and it will focus a lot more on John Connor. While it was a good episode about him rising to his future self, I really fear the loss of Glau in the main story could suck a lot.
The new terminator is really exciting because obviously her agenda is a lot more interesting than “be scary liquid metal robot that stops at nothing to destroy the target.”
Also, I was surprised at how dark the show has gone with this episode…I mean it’s not clear but Sarah might have been raped?…
She is a sexy girl, but she is not a Terminator. She is far away from Christina Lokken.
I don’t think the Christina Loken is the proper comparison…she was a T-X model: Terminator Killer. As a T-1000, she’s a total infiltrator. Subtle and sleek – until backed in a corner. Compare her to Robert Patrick in T-2.
I think Shirley is, surprisingly, the PERFECT casting decision. Her portrayal of the character gives me goosebumps. She knocked it out of the park.
Yes! She is an evil Terminator and her acting that part was great! The whole series is awesome!
