The Online World of CitySpace

August 15, 2008 by Geeks are Sexy | 3 comments

Liveplace.com has recently released a clip presenting their yet-to-be-launched online world, CitySpace. Check it out in the following video:

What is really great about this online world is that the environment it features can be accessed via a conventional browser and is fully rendered server-side, allowing relatively weak devices such as phones and PDAs to load the game without problems. The video you saw above was streamed on Treo 700 at 240kbps.

Wow, so richly detailed you’ll wonder why you don’t just go outside…

Nice to see that you came inside long enough to complain, troll.

Hardly simple trollery, I guess I just don’t get the whole MMORPG craze. I know guys who spend more time “leveling up” on warcraft than working. I’ve seen them do it, they clearly aren’t enjoying it. What does it say about a culture when your escapism is basically another job? I suppose I should hold my gripes until they actually finish the thing, maybe it will be different, but I still sniff another SecondLife/WOW in the making.
