yeah, you are right. dry ice is easier to obtain.

also, i guess we were thinking that putting liquid nitrogen into water will freeze part of the water, kind of like ice-9’s weaker older brother ice-5 in cat’s cradle.

I guess as a science major I was expecting something more. This IS what happens when you pour liquid nitrogen on water so…what’s the big deal?

The same effect can be obtained with dry ice, btw, and I believe that is easier to obtain…

yes, I realize that… but it is still faster than those fog machines, am i right or am i right?

lol, but making ice cream with liquid nitrogen makes really really good ice cream, also, allows you to create the awesomeness that is fried ice cream.

This is the same reaction that happens when you pour it on the ground too; it rapidly changes to a gas, expands, and cools the air forming the cloud. The pool contained the more dense cloud for a while, but that is the only thing different from pouring N2 on a pool or on the ground.

comment #1: A fog machines ‘fog’ is designed to be inhaled and be used in closed spaces. If you were to do the same with N2, you will displace the air you need to breathe and die.

It’s awesome! I poured the nitrogen into the toilet water when I was young, the toilet was full of the smoke and looked like heaven. lol

and now we know, if we need smoke effect really quickly, but either dont have one of those machines, or cant wait till the whole room fills up, this is DEFINITELY the way to go.
