The lighting does change ever so slightly. But probably because of pollution, the smog in the sky forms a very uniform light on him, like a photographers softbox.

It does look fake though, in regards that the movement of the flight stick doesn’t really translate to much. Plus would you take your hands off the stick like that? I know I wouldn’t. Ok in a Cessna, fingertip is the way forwards but some rickety flying machine like this? No way.

There’s no way that this is real – I’ve been on more single-engine flights than most, I suspect, and every detail of this “flight” is way, way off.

I cant help but think that if this were real, he would at least include some shots of the airplane itself along with the video. I have to agree that it looks green screened in.

Yeah definitely a green screen, the background looks way to different and the wind on his shirt never changes, and he managed a smoother landing than most commercially built small planes. Also the quality of the focus on him is of a very good camera, and if he is not able to get parts than stuff pulled from dumpsters, how did he get such an expensive camera, i sure as hell would not strap my expensive camera to any self made flying device.

I bet it’s a gyrocopter. You have a pusher prop pushing you and a non-powered horizontal rotor that picks up speed as you go forward and eventually lifts you into the air. He was surely going too slow for wings to work.

A friend of mine from high school died crashing one in the last test flight before he was going to have it certified by the FAA. The bolt holding the oil cooler loosened, and the oil cooler fell into his prop.

It’s not real. The lighting on the guys shirt never changes, and his clothes would be rippling a lot more at that altitude and that speed.
