One of the things I like about JK Rowling (apart from the fact that she is a fellow Scot who has made a huge stonking pile of cash) is that she does a lot for charity. One of the recent things that she did was write a short 800 word Harry Potter “prequel” which she signed and was then auctioned off for charity (it sold for 25,000 British pounds – $48,600).

It is now officially available online for everyone to read at the Waterstones website. Just click “Read our authors’ stories” and then click “JK Rowling”. It’s quite a good story, but being handwritten you have to really focus on the screen to read the writing.

What do you think of the story? A worthy addition to the Potter series?
