Who says the Germans don’t have a sense of humour?

The online English edition of Spiegel Magazine has published a very funny quiz on the humorous place names to be found in Germany and other parts of Europe. Of course the people living in these places don’t see the joke as they have to live there and be the butt of all the jokes.

But looking in from the outside, you’ll find it hard to believe that there are real places with names like that and you’ll be looking them up on Google Maps while laughing out loud.

As my uncle commented the other day after doing the quiz, “and we here in Scotland think we have it bad with places such as Puddledub, Auchtermuchty and Ecclefechan!”
