I was able to get around it by booting into DOS. If you can find a way to get to DOS and access your C: drive (or whatever drive windows is installed on)... type: cd system32 [Enter] ren gdi32.dll gdi32.old [Enter] cd C:windowsservicepackfilesi386 [Enter] Copy gdi32.dll c:windowssystem32 [Enter] exit [Enter] ---------------- You can recover the renamed gdi32.old if it ends up causing more problems. Since there's too many ways for SP3 to go wrong, there's no guarantee that this will work for you, of course. Please don't blame me! My scenario was that my PC would restart as soon as it started booting into Windows....and the loop would go on and on. After fixing the ol' gdi32 file, I was back in business. If all else fails...err....torrent and burn an XP CD using a spare computer maybe? But only if you've still got the XP license sticker on your machine ;-)

John, I had a boot issues after SP3 install, too. A message appears saying I should do a repair with the Windows Setup disk... if I had one. Sort of the problem with OEM recovery disks, no such thing as a Windows setup disk.

I installed it last night and now Windows won't boot.
