I do this all the time, and a lot of people I know do it too. However, instead of using a new name each time, I do as your title actually says and created a whole new identity, complete with first and last name, address, birth date, etc. I find it easier to remember than making up new information each time. However, watch out for things like WoW, where they require you to call and explain why your credit card doesn’t match your name (insert extremely lengthy BS story here, or just admit the truth).
