September 16th is when all true Star Wars fanatics are going to totally lose it. LucasArts has announced that this will be the date when the Nintendo Wii game, Star Wars: Force Unleashed, will be released.

What’s so special about this game? This will be the game when you can pick up the Wii Remote and fight with a lightsaber! You can go one-on-one or multi-player and you can either be a Jedi or a Sith Lord. Choose your lightsaber then start hammering away at one another.

Although it will likely only be controlled by movements of the normal wii remote, it would be cool if the game came with the light saber type grip that the wiimote plugged into. Even cooler would be if a beam of light came out of it ;-) I remember the moment I first heard about this last fall, driving my daughter to school and squee’d. That was when she looked at me and said “Mom, you really ARE a geek, you know?” Own it. Love it. Geeks ARE sexy.

I now know exactly what husband and boys will want for Christmas.

I hope it lights up like the real light sabre.

PS What does the checkbox do, the one that has no text by it,underneath the Add Comment button? Sometimes I check it, sometimes I don’t, I often wonder if it will cause chaos?
