Thankyou for this – this bookmarklet is so handy and easy to use. I had tried some of the online conversion sites but didn’t always find them reliable.

I use Yahoo hosting.
With that you just copy the ‘embed’ link on ‘YouTube’ into a html box, expand to size and it’s done.

Or am I missing something here?

I’m a bit of a technophobe, which is why I use yahoo hosting in the first place.

I just use zamzar:
* Set up their Bookmarklet
* Assign the keyword “Zam”
* Find Video
* Type “Zam” into my address bar
* Choose video/audio file type
* Link waiting in email a little later
* DOWNLOAD!

I just use Unplug: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/2254 It says it’s not for FF3, but it’s one of the extensions that actually does work when you turn off compatibility checking.
